Assalamualaykum, after performing nikah, is it necessary for the bride and groom to meet before walimah takes place? Can the walimah not take place without them both meeting? Wassalam ID: 701 [21/07/2008]
Asslamo Allaikum Mufti Saheb, Someone has asked for this question to be forwarded to you, Insha'Allah. 1) A Brother wrote a letter to his wife and specifically gave 1 Islamic Divorce in writing. 2) She asked for a Civil divorce so then he applied for Civil Divorce in a British Court and agreed for the Court for the Marriage to be annuled. Throughout the Process he had no intention for "2nd" Divorce and he fully understands the Islamic procedure for Divorce (and making Intentions before giving Divorce etc.) but he wanted his wife to be able to legally marry (if she wanted to). The Non-Muslim Judge in the British Court annulled the marriage. The Sister never remarried but the two are thinking about getting their Nikah done and getting back together. What is your opinion on the matter? Jazakullah Khairun ID:702 [20 august 2008]
