Hilal of Rabi ul Awwal 1434 AH sighted in York, England‏

Alhamdullilah the moon has been sighted by 15 people in York today at 4:47pm, hence the Wifaq ul Ulama hereby declares that the month of Safar had 29 days and Sunday the 13th of January 2013 will be the 1st of Rabi ul Awwal 1434AH.

Hizb-ul-Ulama fails to supply information

Hizb-ul-Ulama published some claims about moon sighting in places like Chile.  When Asked to provide evidence on these claims they have been, to date, unanswered.

On Tuesday 27th November I sent you the below email. I am still waiting for your 
response but I would be grateful if you can also clarify the following questions: 

1. Can you please provide an official statement from the Chinese Muslim Hilal 
authorities backing up your statement in the attachment. Which province in China did 
the sighting took place? Also the 5 names of those whom sighted will be helpful.   

2. Can you provide details of sighting in Fiji, i.e names of those whom sighted and the 
names of these "Strict Deoband Scholars".  

3. Similar details of sighting in New Zealand will also be appreciated.

You have quoted a lot of information in your article from various countries which 

suggests that you have an official contact with those countries. Can you kindly 
provide official documents with details from the moonsighting committees of the 
countries quoted, i.e, China, New Zealand, Nigeria etc.

An Important statement by Wifaq ul Ulama as regards to the recent slanderous statements by Hizb ul Ulama.

It has been brought to our attention that in the past few weeks Moulana Yaqub Miftahi of Hizb ul Ulama has declared an all out war of words on the 'Wifaq ul Ulama'. Attacks like these were common in the past against any 'Aalim/Scholar' that dared to speak the truth as they saw it. It is clear that the truth hurts. It is against the character of the Ulama to deny the truth. When the evidence is clear, one has no choice but to accept it. Unfortunately this does not seem to be the trait of some members of Hizb ul Ulama. For them any truth that goes against their beliefs is seen as mischief and fitnah. Naoozubillah Min Zaalik.

In the past many pious Ulama may have fallen silent after their terrorising and bullying tactics, this will no longer be the case. Falsehood needs to be confronted and eradicated. We appeal to this group to put their pride to one side and adapt to the realities of the modern world. They are afraid to accept the truth because they fear criticism and hostility from the community but they should fear the punishment of Almighty Allah for misguiding thousands of Muslims. 

As a result of their misleading information, many innocent Muslims begin Ramadhan ul Mubarak on the wrong day. Then they are deprived of the 30th fast as they are told it is the day of Eid ul Fitr. To make matters worse, their fasts become invalid as they are given incorrect Subh Sadiq times which results in people eating after Subh Sadiq. To date this group has failed to answer very clear questions posed to them about their very dubious Mushahadah (eye witness account of Subh Sadiq).

Alhamdulillah we are not worried about the false statements and newsletters of the Hizb ul Ulama as we believe that Allah is watching and all knowing. But let us be very clear:  what we write and what we propagate is the truth and nothing but the truth.

When we receive any news, we exhaust all our efforts to verify that news before we pass it on to our readers. This is why our statements, which we believe to be beneficial to the community, are always backed up by hard evidence. 

As regards to false accusations of disrespecting Ulama, I would like to put forward certain questions to Moulana Yaqub Miftahi and his colleagues at Hizb ul Ulama so that they can decide for themselves who is guilty of spreading lies. There are many examples but we have selected a few :

• Who slandered the grand Mufti of Darul Uloom Deoband, Mufti Saeed Ahmad Palanpuri Saheb Damat Barakutuhum? Amongst many other things Moulana Miftahi writes: "Ml. Palanpuri is extremely critical and uses insulting and abusive words when trying to prove his points (many times, baseless, false and far from truth..."
