Important Announcement (Wednesday 18 Rabi ul Awwal 1429 - 26 Mar 2008)We would like to inform everyone, that we offered to take up the challenge put forward by the Central Moon sighting committee, which consist of Jamiat E Ulama UK,Hizb ul Ulama UK and Darul Uloom Bury, to meet and discuss the moon sighting issue in UK, and to try to come to a conclusion to unite the Muslims of UK on this issue. But unfortunately after three months of effort by the organisers, with great regret, we have to inform all concerned that the proposers who had publicly declared to meet "anyone, anytime, anyplace" have backed out of the meeting, depriving the Muslims of UK an ideal opportunity to unite, and more importantly to commence the Islamic months and important events like Ramadhan and the 2 Eids correctly. This meeting was scheduled to be held on Sunday 30th of March 2008 at the North London Muslim Community Centre in Stamford Hill. The date was agreed by both groups two months ago. The hosts once again were to be the NLMCC who had successfully held 2 previous events at the centre by Jamiat E Ulama UK / Hizbul Ulama UK in December 2007 and by Wifaqululama in January 2008. This announcement is being made so that the public can become aware that we have done our utmost to meet the Ulama who disagree with us, to try to find a Shariah compliant solution accepted by all sides and also to quell those rumours by some mischievous people that we at Wifaq ul Ulama are refusing to meet anyone on this issue. Below is the email from the Brothers who attempted to organise the Meeting (Download here for a clearer view of the email).
