Maulana Ismaeel Badat (RA)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh (Peace, Blessings & Mercy of Allah be upon You).

إِنَّا للهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ

This statement is being issued on the 11th of July 2017 and supersedes all previous statements on the subject.

It has now has reached us with great regret and sadness that the erudite Scholar Shaykh & Shaykh Maulana Ismaeel Badat (RA) just passed away at Madina Munawwra. Death of a Scholar is a calamity in its own right but passing away of a great personality such as Shaykh Maulana Ismaeel Badat (RA) is an irreplaceable loss to the Muslim Ummah. We make Dua for Allah Ta’ala to forgive his sins and grant him the paradise (Ameen).

We are reminded of this blessed saying of Nabi (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) at this occasion:

Sayyidina Abdullah ibn Amr (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) said, “Verily, Allah does not take away knowledge by snatching it from the people but rather he takes away knowledge with the death of the scholars until he leaves no scholar behind and the people turn to the ignorant as their leaders. They are asked to give religious judgments without knowledge, thus they are led astray and lead others astray.” [Bukhari]

Shaykh Maulana Ismaeel Badat (RA)

By Mawlana Yunus Badat (Preston)

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Shaykh Maulana Ismaeel Badat (RA) was born around 1945 in Nani Naroli (India).

He memorised the Quran in his local Maktab, Madrasa e Targeeb under by Mov. Ismaeel Sarkar Sahib RA & then went commenced his Alimiyyah studies at the famous seminary of Gujarat, Darul Uloom Jamia Hussainiyyah in Rander.

Shaykh Maulana Ismaeel Badat (RA) would frequent Saharanpur in the month of Ramadan, making Itikaaf and benefiting from the spiritual discourses and company of Shaykhul-Hadeeth (Maulanaa) Zakariyya Kandhalwi (RA). After completing his Alimiyyah, he indefinitely went into the Khidmah of Shaykhul-Hadeeth (Maulanaa) Zakariyya Kandhalwi (RA), wishing to serve his spiritual master as a full time attendant. Shaykh Maulana Ismaeel Badat (RA) was totally devoted to his Shaykh, and on his first meeting with him he actually fainted due to being overwhelmed.

In the Ramadhan of 1969 both Khadim and Shaykh were in the blessed city of al-Madīnah al-Munawwarah, where Shaykhul-Hadeeth (Maulanaa) Zakariyya Kandhalwi (RA) one night after the Taraweeh called him and Shaykh Yusuf Motala and granted both Ijazah as Khalifa.

In 1972 Shaykh Maulana Ismaeel Badat (RA) migrated to the blessed city of al-Madīnah al-Munawwarah, where he remained till his demise in 2017 (over 45 years).

Shaykh Maulana Ismaeel Badat (RA) led a very simple life in extremely modest dwellings. He was extremely generous towards the numerous pilgrims who would visit al-Madīnah al-Munawwarah.

He would recite one full Quran everyday, sitting in the same spot in Majid-e-Nabawi, facing the resting place of our beloved prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). How fortunate he was to be in the city of the noblest of mankind.

He leaves behind 4 sons, 2 daughters & 24 grandchildren, all residing in Madinah. May Allah grant them patience and steadfastness, and grant Marhoom a lofty status in the hereafter, Ameen.

I humbly request you all to remember Marhoom in your pious & sincere Duas.
