It has now has reached us with great regret and sadness that the erudite Hadeeth Scholar Shaykh Muhammad Yunus Jownpuri (RA) just passed away at Saharunpur (India)
Living in the Hijaz, Hadhrat has constantly been involved in enlightening the Arab world about the academic efforts of the Akabir of Deoband and their mode of tasawwuf, which has the distinguishing feature of being in complete agreement to the Qur’an and hadith. Beyond the Hijaz, Hadhrat travels the world regularly — especially to the Indian Sub-Continent, Africa, Europe, North America and the Far East — calling people to tasawwuf. Hadhrat has also passionately been involved in raising the banner of Islam (e’lah kalimat Allah) by tirelessly establishing organisations and providing them with spiritual and moral support. Apart from preparing individuals to serve at madrasahs, mosques and khanqahs, Hadhrat has also prepared countless individuals to serve Islam in various other fields including in dawah and Tabligh.
The news of the passing of Maulana Saleemullah Khan (RA) has reached us with great regret and sadness. He (RA) was the teacher of many great Scholars such as (Mufti) Taqi Usmani (DB). Death of a Scholar is a calamity in its own right but passing away of a great personality such as Maulana Saleemullah Khan (RA) is an irreplaceable loss to the Muslim Ummah. He (RA) spent close to a century serving Islamic sciences and Islam. We make Dua for Allah Ta’ala to forgive his sins and grant him the paradise (Ameen).

I am struck with grief and saddened beyond our words at the passing away of my friend. When I heard the news of the plane gone missing I was apprehensive but my feelings turned to anguish when it was confirmed that my friend was on board. At this time I don’t have the words to express my emotions but I would like Wifaqul Ulama to request all Muslims in the country to pray for everyone who has passed away in this tragedy. May Allah Ta’ala forgive the sins of everyone, grant them entry into Jannatul-Firdaus and grant patience to their families. I request special Dua for my friend who is no longer with us.

I am saddened and horrified at what I just heard on my Radio. I am still numb at this tragedy but I believe that it’s my duty to convey my thoughts about a remarkable woman whose life was cut short by a barbaric act of Terrorism.
