2019 Election Results

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh (Peace, Blessings & Mercy of Allah be upon You).

This statement is being issued on the 13th of December 2019 and supersedes all previous statements on the subject.

Congratulations to the Conservatives and Prime Minister the Rt Hon Boris Johnson on winning the elections.

This morning the Prime Minister spoke of “One Nation Conservative Government”, we hope that is how Britain will be governed. When it comes to ethnic minorities, we all must work together to reduce the temperature, cut down the rhetoric, heal the nation and bring everyone together for a better Britain. We agree with the words of the Prime Minister, “Let’s unite this country, let’s spread opportunity to every corner of the UK, with superb education, superb infrastructure, and technology.”

To the Muslims, we say that the past two election cycles witnessed an increasing number of British Muslims becoming politically active and involved at grass roots level which is a fantastic change in our communities.

We need to redouble our efforts in striving to bring a positive change to British society. We must purify our intentions and work to please our Creator, exclusively. The Qurān and the Sunnāh teach us that there is goodness in circumstances which we may superficially perceive to be advantageous or adverse. No matter how you voted, it’s time to build relationships with the newly elected members of Parliament at a local and national level.
