The Deobandi

The use of the term “Deobandi” derives from this tradition, and refers to scholars who have either learnt, or studied with teachers, from Darul ‘Uloom Deoband. However, with time, as the number of graduates increased and became widespread, the term “Deobandi” came to be used much more loosely, particularly by non-scholars, often as throwaway labels of religious identity in antagonism to other religious identities. The growth of such attitude has meant that it is very easy, in a highly un-nuanced way, to categorise just about any Muslim as “Deobandi”.

Islam and Ahmadis

We unequivocally condemn the murder of Asad Shah and affirm the right of Ahmadis to their freedom of belief and reject any attacks on their property or persons. We subscribe to pluralism and peaceful coexistence and acknowledge the rights of all to believe as they choose without coercion, fear and intimidation.

Brexit: Now…

Let us begin by stating that the majority of British citizens exercised their right to express their wishes, that the UK should no longer be part of the EU. The wishes of the majority should be respected. We firmly believe that a majority of those voting for Brexit are neither racist nor xenophobic or Islamophobes but are decent, proud law abiding citizens of Britain who stand with us in condemning what is happening to our country.

Brexit or Remain?

We have taken the time to analyse some of the “facts” being presented by both sides of the campaign. It is our opinion that Muslims in Britain should utilise their right to vote on the 23rd of June and back the “Remain” campaign. Those who may not have the time to conduct a thorough research on the topic are advised to look at the backers of both campaign. The far right wishes for Europe to become more protectionist and insular but it is in our best interest to be more accommodating, unbiased, unprejudiced and to remain together. We respect the right of others who may disagree with us and back "Brexit", it is their democratic right.
